Aix-en-Provence lies at the heart of Southern France’s motorway network.

The city is served by the A8 motorway, known as La Provençale, which connects Nice to Marseille, the A51 towards Gap, around 1 hour 40 minutes away, and the Alps, as well as the A7 towards Lyon, around 3 hours away, and Paris, around 7 hours 30 minutes away.

From Marseille, allow around 30 minutes by car, through typically Provençal surroundings. For easy parking, several car parks are located very close to the historic centre. Park-and-ride facilities also make it possible to reach the city centre by public transport while avoiding traffic in the heart of town

By train

Aix-en-Provence TGV station, located 15 kilometres from the city centre, puts Aix less than 3 hours from Paris and around 1 hour 30 minutes from Lyon.

It welcomes numerous TGV INOUI and OUIGO trains every day from major French cities.

To reach the historic centre, regular shuttle buses provide a journey of around 20 minutes. The city also has Aix Centre station, served by regional TER trains to destinations including Marseille, Gap and Briançon.

By plane

Marseille-Provence Airport, located in Marignane 25 kilometres from Aix-en-Provence, is the region’s main international gateway.

It offers direct flights to Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid, Frankfurt and Montreal, depending on the season.

From the terminals, shuttle bus Line 40 connects directly to Aix-en-Provence bus station in around 30 minutes, providing a simple and efficient connection for your groups and colleagues.

Public transports

The Aix en Bus network makes it easy to get around the city, with around thirty urban routes.

Aix-en-Provence bus station, located very close to the city centre, is the main transport hub. It also serves regional ZOU! network routes, connecting destinations such as Marseille, Aubagne, Salon-de-Provence, Pertuis and the airport.
