By road

To reach Saint-Germain-en-Laye by car, allow an average of 45 minutes from Paris and 25 minutes from Versailles or La Défense, depending on traffic.

From Paris, take the A13 towards Rouen, then exit 6 ‘Saint-Germain-en-Laye / Poissy’, and follow the N13. From the west of France, join the A13 from Caen or Rennes, then also take exit no. 6. Then follow signs for ‘St germain en Laye Centre’.

A number of car parks are available, including the Château, Pologne and Marché-Neuf car parks, all within easy reach of the historic centre.

By train

To reach Saint-Germain-en-Laye from Paris by train, simply board the RER A at Châtelet-Les Halles, Auber or Gare de Lyon and alight at Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a journey of 35–40 minutes.

From Gare Saint-Lazare, it is easiest to take the Transilien J line to Poissy and then the RER A to Saint-Germain. The RER station in Saint-Germain is located right in the centre of town, opposite the château and the shopping streets. This gives you immediate access on foot to all the main attractions and your seminars in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

By plane

Saint-Germain-en-Laye is around 45 minutes from Paris-Orly Airport (40 km) by car via the A86, and around 1 hour from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (50 km) via the A1 and then the A86, depending on traffic.

It takes around 1 hour 10 minutes to reach the city by public transport from the Paris airports: take line 14 (from Orly) or RER B (from Roissy) to Châtelet-les-Halles, then RER A to Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
